Kate and Moby have talked about it and have decided that Moby doesn't want to leave the West Coast! Understandable because it does get cold here. The alliance wishes Kate good luck getting back on her feet and back to Moby to resume the life she left behind.
As for the show "Being Jonas Wilder" the only change is will be starting on the East Coast instead of the West. Check back to the Experience It Live page at the alliance for venues and dates.
Why This Road Trip Is an Alliance Story
The Creative Humanity Alliance exists because creativity is not a luxury. It is a survival mechanism — one the modern world has systematically devalued, isolated, and left stranded. We bring together the people who make things and the people who need things made, not as an industry, but as a community with a shared stake in what humans can do when they create with intention.
This spring, that mission gets a road trip. And the road trip starts with a rescue.
Moby and Kate Downie
There is a silver Mercedes Sprinter van named Moby sitting in a parking lot in Los Angeles. He's a fully self-contained, off-grid capable home on wheels. He belongs to Kate Downie — a master yoga instructor, working actress, solo mountaineer, and wilderness adventure trip leader who has spent her life leading others into the places that change them.
For the past eighteen months, Kate has been fighting long Covid in Brooklyn, New York. She cannot work. She cannot teach, perform, guide, or climb. She has been kept going by the generosity of people who recognize what the world loses when someone like her is sidelined. Moby has been waiting for her in LA, deteriorating with each passing month the way vehicles do when they sit.
Alliance founder Mark Firehammer has known Kathryn for thirty years. He's going to get Moby. He'll bring him back east and keep him within reach of Brooklyn while Kathryn recovers. When she's ready, the van will be there.
The Show as Alliance-Building
The rescue is one reason for this road trip. The show is the other.
Being Jonas Wilder is a music-theater experience written and performed by Mark Firehammer — part storytelling concert, part live album performance, part lived philosophical inquiry. It draws on forty years of creative and personal development and tells the story of Jonas Wilder: a man learning to distinguish the Echo (the internal voice that keeps us small and looping) from the Voice (the signal that keeps calling us forward into our actual lives).
At each stop on this spring tour — libraries, independent bookstores, small venues, and intimate spaces across twelve cities — Mark will perform the solo road-trip version of the show. But the performance is also a search. Every room is a chance to find the people the Alliance is built for: the creatives, the makers, the lovers of the made thing who are ready to stop being alone in it.
What the Alliance Is Inviting You Into
The Creative Humanity Alliance is not a fan club. It is not a platform. It is an organization being built — right now, on this road trip — out of real encounters with real people who recognize something in the work.

A house concert, a bookstore reading, a library event, a gathering of curious people — this is how the Alliance actually forms. Not from the top down, but from the ground up. City by city. Room by room. Person by person. You don't need credentials to host something real. You need the desire and a space.
