FAQ - General
Creative Humanity Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reconnecting people through creativity. We believe artistic expression is not a luxury, but a human necessity—one of the most powerful ways to restore connection, communication, and compassion in a fragmented world.
Absolutely. We encourage visitors to spread our work. Sharing helps amplify the mission and extend its reach, all while keeping Creative Humanity Alliance independent and focused on creation.
The best place to start is with our C.H.A.M.P. (Creative Humanity Alliance Maker Program). CHAMP is a growing network of artists, makers, and visionaries who use their work to reconnect people and culture. By joining, you become part of an alliance that champions humanity, the arts, and each other. Whether through collaborative projects, residencies, or community initiatives, CHAMP is the gateway to participating in—and shaping—the work of Creative Humanity Alliance.
Creative Humanity Alliance, Inc. is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts effective August 22, 2025. We have been granted 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by the IRS effective September 12, 2025. All donations are tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for details.
Your support directly fuels creative programs and projects that bring people together. Donations help us produce interactive experiences, support artists-in-residence, and create tools and works that communities can use to foster connection. We are committed to using every contribution responsibly and transparently.
As the Alliance expands, you’ll also be able to direct your giving to specific projects that inspire you most. For example, when we receive a donated truck, we’ll launch a campaign to transform it into a mobile production studio—bringing creativity and connection to schools across the country. Each project will have its own dedicated fund, so you’ll always know your contribution is being spent exactly where you want it to make an impact.
We partner with donorbox.org, one of the most respected and reliable nonprofit fundraising platforms in the world. You can rest assured that your information will be kept private and you transactions are secure. You can read their full privacy policy here: https://donorbox.org/privacy
The best way is to subscribe to our newsletter and visit our website regularly. We intentionally limit our social media presence, so we encourage you to share our work on your own platforms if it resonates with you.
You don’t have to wait for permission, a grant, or institutional backing to bring ambitious creative work to life.
The Creative Humanity Alliance was designed to amplify connection through creation — and that includes helping choreographers, dancers, educators, and community arts leaders fund, produce, and promote performances that matter.
Through our peer-to-peer fundraising system, you can rally your own community to support your production — whether it’s an intimate staged reading or a full multimedia performance with live music, projection, and costume.
The Alliance can also serve as your fiscal sponsor, providing the framework for transparent, ethical fundraising and enabling your supporters to make tax-deductible donations directly toward your project.
And because we believe in putting real support behind real art, the Alliance invests advertising dollars through our Google Ads Grant to promote your production, recordings, or community premiere — driving attention, ticket sales, and public awareness of your work.
In short:
You bring the vision. We help make it visible.
FAQ - CHAMPS
You do. All CHAMP artists retain full ownership of their work. If a project is created collaboratively, ownership is shared among contributors. The Creative Humanity Alliance does not claim ownership. Our only request is that a consumable version of your work be available in the Pantry — the Alliance’s growing collection of creative offerings.
For many art forms, it’s simple — a recording, digital file, or written piece. For “hard arts” like sculpture or installation, we help create materials such as photos, videos, or discussion guides so the work can be meaningfully shared. We support artists with tools and templates to ensure Pantry experiences are consistent, accessible, and engaging.
You retain ownership of your work. To support both ownership and access, many artists choose to publish their Pantry offering under a Creative Commons license. This is the same approach used for our founder’s work Wild Card, You. A CC license allows you to clearly state:
- You own the work
- Here’s how others may use it (share, adapt, remix, noncommercial, etc.)
Using Creative Commons is optional, but we encourage it because it helps the Pantry remain a welcoming, shareable resource. If you’re new to CC, we’ll guide you through the options so you can choose the level of openness that fits your comfort.
Any artist, maker, or creative in any discipline — music, dance, theater, visual arts, writing, design, film, crafts, and more. What matters most is your desire to create in community and be part of cultural healing through creativity.
No. We welcome both seasoned professionals and emerging or everyday creators of any age. The program is about expression, not résumés.
One of our core values and goals is the collaboration across generations because as stated on the champs program page we believe that collaboration magnifies creativity and that bridging generations, cultures, disciplines brings different points of view and life experiences to the creative outcome.
You’ll take part in projects that fit your schedule and skills. Some CHAMPs do short-term collaborations, while others become long-term creative leaders.
Many CHAMP projects begin as volunteer-based collaborations. As funding grows, we aim to support artists with stipends, commissions, and funded opportunities.
In addition, we are building a team of arts and entertainment industry professionals who will take an active role in finding placement opportunities for Alliance-contributed provisions. As the collection of CHAMP offerings in the Pantry grows, it becomes more compelling to potential partners — creating new chances for the work to find fresh life, expand its influence, and generate revenue streams for the artists involved.
Every CHAMP receives a dedicated profile page on the Creative Humanity Alliance website. This page is optimized to showcase your artist bio, your creative work outside of the Alliance, links to your Pantry contributions, and your personal website and social media.
The Alliance is also running global advertising campaigns and corporate partnerships that drive significant traffic to our site — and to every CHAMP profile. (See this Google ads grant article for more information) For artists who blog or publish regularly, there are even more online visibility tools available (see below).
If you’re an active blogger, we can syndicate your posts directly onto your profile. Every syndicated post links back to you as the original author, creating a powerful search engine optimization (SEO) boost for your own site while expanding your audience through the Alliance’s global reach.
In short: your creative voice doesn’t just live inside the Alliance — we help amplify it across the web. This strengthens your independent platform, raises your visibility as a CHAMP, and builds momentum for the collective work of cultural healing.
Fill out the CHAMP interest form on our site. We’ll connect with you to learn more about your art, your interests, and where you’d like to contribute.
FAQ - Board Members & Volunteers
We’re building a multi-tiered board structure that includes both high-level advisors and hands-on leaders. Our vision is to bring together expertise from across fields — business, education, law, arts, and nonprofit leadership — to guide and sustain the Alliance’s growth.
We’re especially interested in leaders across three advisory tiers:
Strategic Advisors — Experts in:
- Law (nonprofit, intellectual property, licensing — especially in music and visual arts)
- Business (active or retired C-level and management executives who want to make a lasting contribution to humanity)
- Education (department heads and career development leaders at universities and schools who can help build pipelines connecting top creative talent to meaningful opportunities)
Creative Advisors — Experienced producers and directors (film, television, stage) who can help organize and manage creative cohorts. These leaders bring order to the natural chaos of creative collaboration, ensuring projects align with the Alliance’s mission of creating art that demonstrates both the benefits of human connection and the consequences of its absence.
Volunteer Advisors — Leaders who can coordinate volunteer teams across marketing, grant writing, nonprofit administration, and community outreach. This includes helping launch peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns for projects like Blue Sky Park installations.
Not necessarily. What we value most is expertise, commitment, and a willingness to contribute your knowledge to cultural healing through creativity. We’ll provide orientation and support so you can step into your role with confidence.
Advisory board members typically commit 4–6 hours per month, including quarterly board meetings and occasional committee work. Some roles may involve additional time during active projects.
Board members are asked to make a personally meaningful contribution of time and or funds and to help with fundraising — whether through connections, introductions, or strategy. This ensures we model leadership in giving and sustainability.
Yes! Volunteers are essential to our work. We welcome support in areas like event coordination, digital media, fundraising, and community outreach. Volunteers help power the Alliance day-to-day, and we provide meaningful opportunities for you to grow, contribute, and connect.
Yes! Many colleges and universities offer academic credit, internship hours, or service-learning recognition for volunteer work completed through nonprofit organizations. Students interested in earning credit should check with their career development office, academic advisor, or internship coordinator to confirm eligibility and documentation requirements.
The Alliance is happy to provide verification letters, supervisor contacts, and descriptions of volunteer roles to help students receive the credit they’ve earned.
Fill out our board or volunteer interest form, and we’ll connect to explore where your expertise and passion best fit within the Alliance.
FAQ - Peer-to-Peer Fundraising
Funds raised through Alliance-supported peer-to-peer campaigns are shared between:
- The participating artist or artist team, and
- The Creative Humanity Alliance
This shared distribution supports both the creation of the work and the systems that make the work possible.
Each peer-to-peer project uses a dedicated, project-specific bank account.
This means:
Project funds are kept separate from general operating funds
Project funds are not co-mingled with other projects
Accounting remains clear and transparent at all times
Separate accounts support trust, clarity, and responsible stewardship.
Artist and team funds may be used for:
Artist time and labor
Materials and supplies
Equipment or access needs
Collaborator compensation
Project-related expenses
Artists are encouraged to budget realistically and transparently.
The Alliance share supports:
Fundraising infrastructure
Digital tools and systems
Project coordination
Administrative and compliance requirements
Documentation and archival work
These supports allow artists to focus on the work rather than building systems from scratch.
